Stories in the Vault offers rare access to Harley-Davidson history, not typically part of a museum visit. These programs are offered sparingly and only on select dates.

After selling out quickly earlier this year, this experience returns for a limited opportunity on July 10 at 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m.

Features a live, hands-on demonstration of a rare 1920 Harley-Davidson J Model led by the H-D Archives Team.

Learning to ride a motorcycle is the greatest adventure. The Harley-Davidson Museum JUMPSTART™ New Rider Experience is a safe, stationary, and free experience that allows individuals with no prior riding experience, license, or gear to sit on a real, secured Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Participants can start the engine, twist the throttle, and shift through gears, providing a realistic feel for riding without the risk of falling. Located on the south end of the H-D Museum Campus past The Garage outside the Motorcycle Demo Pod – Open Fridays 12pm-4pm; Saturdays & Sundays 10am-4pm. *Must be 18 years old (or 16 with a parent/guardian waiver signature) plus closed toe shoes and long pants required. **Weather dependent activity

Key details of the JUMPSTART™ experience include:

• Safety First: The motorcycle is locked in a sturdy, non-moving frame, eliminating the risk of dropping the bike.
• Real Feel: Participants can operate the clutch, twist the throttle, and shift through gears while hearing the engine.
• No Experience Needed: It is designed for beginners or those who have only ridden as passengers.
• Non-Training: This is not a substitute for a certified riding course but an introduction to the sensation of riding.
• Requirements: Must be 18 years old (or 16 with a parent/guardian waiver signature) – have closed toe shoes and long pants.

During JUMPSTART™ you have a one-on-one initial motorcycle overview with an experienced brand ambassador - you'll mount the bike, set your boots on the foot pegs, and fire up the engine. Give the throttle a twist and hear that unforgettable Harley-Davidson® sound. Sitting comfortably on the bike, you'll continue to shift through the gears and learn more about how to utilize and work with a motorcycle. Gear shifting can be particularly challenging for new riders, if you want to make sure you are comfortable on a bike without the risk of falling, JUMPSTART™ is here to help! This is one of the best ways for novice / potential new riders to get the feel of riding a motorcycle.
